Experience quantum physics up close: Student conference at the University of Würzburg!

In a few weeks, the University of Würzburg will become a knowledge base for young discoverers of quantum physics. The first junior conference on quantum physics will take place on November 19, 2025 in the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy on the Hubland campus. Students in grades 7 to 9 are cordially invited to take part in this exciting event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The introduction to the fascinating world of quantum physics takes place with an introductory lecture at 9:30 a.m., which explains the basic concepts in a simple and understandable way.

The Junior Conference promises a program full of interesting workshops and experiments. Under the motto “Touch Science” there are exciting topics to discover such as lasers, quantum sensors and superconducting materials. Participation in this unique event is completely free. To secure a place, anyone interested can simply send an email to physik-pr@uni-wuerzburg.de Register and register several participants for school classes.

Insight into excellence research

The Junior Conference is not only an opportunity for young people to take their first steps into quantum physics, but it is also dedicated to the quantum physics cluster of excellence ctd.qmat. This cluster, in which the University of Würzburg conducts research together with the TU Dresden, deals with research into topological quantum materials under extreme conditions. In this way, the university makes a significant contribution to the scientific community.

Another exciting element is the fact that the event is repeated annually on Penance and Prayer Day - a tradition in which young scientists of tomorrow are supported. If you have any questions about the event or registration, Theresa Kunzelmann from PR and public relations is available. She can be reached on +49 931 31-88933 or by email theresa.kunzelmann@uni-wuerzburg.de.

At a time when science and technology are becoming increasingly important, it is more important than ever to get young people excited about these areas. The Junior Conference on Quantum Physics at the University of Würzburg does exactly that: it offers students direct access to the latest developments in physics and promotes an early interest in the natural sciences.

For those who don't want to deal with physical concepts, there are also numerous technical resources for problem solving. The Microsoft Support Page provides helpful guidance to improve user experiences and easily resolve common issues. The Get Help app acts as a central hub to quickly find the right information.

Finally, the event in Würzburg is a real ray of hope for young researchers and a welcome opportunity to ignite and promote curiosity about the natural sciences. This means that a repeat date has been set for an exciting, educational and, above all, entertaining experience in the world of quantum physics.

We look forward to numerous registrations and an eventful day full of science and the joy of learning!
