David Muenkat strengthens the Würzburg Baskets: A great new addition!

An eventful chapter begins for Würzburg basketball fans: David Muenkat will be on the field for the FIT/One Würzburg Baskets in the future. The 2.01 meter tall winger is moving from the SKYLINERS in Frankfurt, which is approximately 100 kilometers up the Main, to the Baskets. Muenkat has signed a two-year contract and is bringing a breath of fresh air to the team.

Sports director Kresimir Loncar is sure that he has hit the jackpot with Muenkat. He describes the Canadian as one of the best defenders in the league with untapped potential on offense. Muenkat, who can play both wing positions, has made a name for himself as a good shooter, which could be a huge advantage for the team next season.

Impressive statistics

Muenkat already demonstrated his talent last season. In the 2023/2024 ProA season he averaged 10 points and 6 rebounds per game, with an impressive three-point percentage of 37.6 percent in 31 appearances. Particularly noteworthy is his personal best of 23 points, which he set on December 10, 2024 in a game against Zac Seljaas.

In addition, he was able to score 8.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in 28 games in the easyCredit BBL, and even had a three-point percentage of 39.8 percent. These impressive statistics speak to the versatility and potential of the newcomer.

Current playing time in the CEBL

Muenkat is currently delighting spectators in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), in which he has been actively playing since 2022. He is currently turning heads for the Brampton Honey Badgers, where he is averaging 13.2 points in ten games. This form could be a real stroke of luck for Würzburg, as it shows that Muenkat is able to shine in important moments.

With this change it is clear that the Würzburger Baskets are working on a hopeful new beginning. Expectations are high and fans are excited to see Muenkat in action soon. The coming months definitely promise to be exciting, and the 25-year-old Canadian will certainly leave his mark not only at home.

Overall, Muenkat's career shows impressive development, which could also greatly enrich the Würzburg Baskets for the next season. Stay tuned as the basketball season certainly has a few surprises in store!
