Weilheim local association celebrates 100 years of tradition and future!

In the heart of Weilheim, the local history and traditional costume club has a proud tradition that dates back to 1921. Again Circle messenger reports, the association is passionate about preserving the Upper Bavarian mountain costumes as well as old customs and customs. The association currently has 360 members, around 50 of whom are actively involved in volunteer work. The club has set up shop in the historic Feyerabendhaus in the Upper Town, a charming place for all kinds of activities.

From pageants to dance evenings to theater performances – the range of events is colorful and varied. Particularly noteworthy are the raising of the maypole and the May festival, which attracts many visitors every four years. The Goaßl Championship, which takes place every two years, is also one of the popular events where members demonstrate their skills. A proud 96 club members took part in the last folk festival parade, which impressively underlines the liveliness of the club.

A new look into the future

The first board member Klaus-Peter Seher emphasizes the importance of knowledge transfer between generations in the club. In the future, the presence on social media channels will be increased in order to also appeal to the younger club members. The association is actively looking for new members who have an interest in preserving their homeland and customs. In order to promote cultural traditions, the club's amateur theater group is also active: it is currently performing the comedy “Always this Circus,” which was written by Wolfgang Braut. The local history and traditional costume association is part of an extensive network of historical associations in Bavaria. Regional heritage guardians are active throughout the Free State of Bavaria and ensure that the cultural heritage is preserved for future generations.
