Brigitte Gronau: Green hopeful for Weilheim-Schongau!

In the Weilheim-Schongau district, the Green Party has brought a breath of fresh air into the political landscape. On June 12, 2025, Brigitte Gronau was unanimously elected as the district administrator candidate of Alliance 90/The Greens. Your nomination is part of the upcoming local elections, which will take place on March 8, 2026. Gronau, who has been actively involved in the city council and the main committee for many years, brings a wealth of experience and sets clear priorities for the challenges ahead.

The candidate sees several central issues on the political agenda. She particularly emphasizes the protection of democracy and climate protection. “The political situation is more difficult today,” said Gronau, “particularly due to the increasing strength of right-wing forces.” She wants to tackle this challenge and promote a strong sense of unity in the district. She not only wants to actively promote climate protection, but also improve health care, ensure the maintenance and construction of new schools and establish fair rental policies.

Focus on sustainable change

The Greens in Bavaria are also committed to positive change in their communities in the upcoming local elections. Their guidelines cover various aspects, ranging from supporting regional agriculture and craft businesses to promoting fair educational opportunities and affordable housing. Supporting art, culture and volunteer work is also part of their program, as explained on the Green Party's website. Another important point is the introduction of a climate and sustainability check for all municipal expenditure to ensure that ecological and economic goals go hand in hand.

The Green Party continues to have a clear agenda for the integration of migrants, which will be promoted through better financial support and optimized administrative structures. What is particularly noteworthy is the goal behind the candidacy: a higher proportion of women in local politics. The proportion of women in green mandates is 50% across Bavaria, while this is only 22% in the entire state. Gronau wants to act as a pioneer here and ensure family-friendly structures in local parliaments.

An appeal to the citizens

The call to participate in communication with citizens is another important part of the political agenda. The Greens want to promote citizen participation and transparency in local politics, which forms the basis of a functioning democracy. “We need committed people with fresh ideas,” says Gronau. Preparations for the lists for the 2026 local elections will begin in the fall, with the local and district associations looking for motivated candidates, regardless of party membership.

Gronau is aware of the challenges and is ready to accept them. Its goal is to promote strong cooperation and to actively involve the people in the district in order to successfully master the tasks ahead. With her clear and focused approach, she shows that it is time to move into the future with new ideas and courage.
