Holiday truck delights in Weiden: Experience the Chiemsee Alpine region up close!
In the Upper Palatinate, the Chiemsee-Chiemgau holiday truck is making headlines. On September 6, 2025, the Chiemsee truck had an advertising presence lasting several days in Weiden. Here, Mayor Jens Meyer had the opportunity to find out about the wide range of offers from Upper Bavarian providers. During an exchange with Wolfgang Bude, the organizer of the campaign, the current tourism developments in the region were discussed. Bude also let visitors know that Chiemsee will soon be on the agenda again.
There was musical accompaniment by Georg Dumberger, better known as the musician Schorsch. He accompanied the holiday truck and ensured that the mood at the stand, which provided information about the holiday region, always remained cheerful. Visitors had the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information about what the Chiemsee-Alpenland region has to offer.
A look at the action
The holiday truck is part of an advertising group from the Chiemsee-Alpine region that wants to establish the economic factor of tourism in the long term. This initiative brings together the strengths of localities, associations and tourism service providers. A promotional campaign was recently carried out in Straubing, Lower Bavaria, at which Florian Tatzel, the head of the Prien am Chiemsee tourism office, was also represented. Interest in the region is high, as demonstrated by the great response from visitors to the information stand.
Visitors could not only receive brochures on topics such as cycling, hiking and camping, but also take part in a competition for short holidays. Those who were lucky were able to enjoy small promotional gifts - an all-round successful experience despite the sometimes cool and rainy weather conditions. The positive feedback from visitors shows a strong thirst for knowledge about the region and a strong connection to it.
An unforgettable experience
During the event, a wedding couple also came to the information stand and was interested in their honeymoon. Unfortunately, they had already chosen a different destination, but that didn't detract from the organizers' positive impression. The focus here was on fun and information. Wolfgang Bude and his team showed great commitment to presenting the advantages of the Chiemsee-Alpenland region.
A special highlight were the photos that not only captured Mayor Jens Meyer with Wolfgang Bude and Georg Dumberger, but also the wedding couple and the impressive presentation of the holiday truck at the Oberer Markt in Weiden. The campaign shows how important promoting tourism is for the region and is a great example of how we can pull together.
