Lions Club Weiden donates 1,000 euros for happy clinic clowns!
A heart for the little ones was once again shown in Weiden! The Lions Club “Goldene Straße” donated 1,000 euros for the clinic clowns in order to put a smile on the faces of the little patients at the Weiden children’s clinic. The sum comes from the proceeds of a coffee and cake sale held at the popular soapbox race in July last year. The check presentation took place in the children's clinic at the Weidener Klinikum, where club secretary Alexander Kießlich, secretary Tanja Schiffmann and Barbara Zwick presented the check.
But who are the smiling faces who will benefit from the donation? The clinic clowns “Prof. Dr. Fritz’l Fußtaps” and “Dr. Trudi Eierfleck” will gratefully accept the donation. These cheerful personalities visit the children in the clinic every week and bring joy and distraction to the often stressful everyday clinic life with their colorful costumes and red noses. Their goal: to give the little patients a good time and to forget their worries a little. Because, as the Klinikclowns state, laughter is an excellent remedy!
The importance of humor in healthcare
Humor is not just a nice side effect, but plays an important role in the hospital. Studies show that laughter strengthens the immune system, reduces pain and promotes the healing process. The “HUMOR HELPS HEALING” initiative pursues similar goals by bringing clinical clowns to hospitals and care facilities to enable encounters on an equal level. Humor is not just seen as a fun factor, but as an essential attitude that supports the well-being of patients, explains the initiative on its website humorhilftheilen.de.
The clinic clowns are an important part of this humorous support. They not only visit the children in Weiden, but also in other clinics, such as the Aschau Orthopedic Children's Clinic. Your program is aimed at giving joy and lightness to the various target groups - be they children, seniors or people with disabilities.
The North Upper Palatinate Clinics
The North Upper Palatinate Clinics, to which the Weidener Klinikum belongs, offer comprehensive medical care in northern Upper Palatinate. Around 100,000 people are treated here every year. The hospital network includes three acute hospitals, a rehabilitation facility and several medical care centers. With around 3,100 employees, the clinics are the region's largest employer, and support from organizations such as the Lions Club helps to make the environment even nicer for patients.
The generous donation from the Lions Club “Goldene Straße” is not just financial support, but a sign of community and compassion for the little patients who are often in difficult situations. By bringing such actions to life, the message becomes clear: This is where people stand up for each other - a real togetherness that is worth fighting for!
