Bavarian Joke Championship in Weiden: Laughter at the highest level!
“Show up or you’ll cry!” The cheerful motto of the Bavarian joke championship announces that on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025, Bavaria's best joke tellers will collide in the Max Reger Hall in Weiden. The event, dedicated entirely to Bavarian humor, promises an entertaining afternoon and evening for anyone who loves laughter.
The free preliminary selection will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., in which a total of 15 candidates, including one woman, will compete for the jury's favor and demonstrate their comedic talent. “New jokes for Bavaria” is the motto that is intended to inspire the participants. Here anyone interested can venture onto the stage and show what is on their mind. And the best thing about it: entry is free for all spectators!
The final show and the judges
From 4:00 p.m. the big finale show begins, which is the highlight of the day. Here the jury, consisting of the renowned cabaret artist Wolfgang Krebs and the talented Constanze Lindner, will choose the best joke teller. “The Joke Championship” is not only looking for the most humorous participant, but also for the one who entertains the audience the best. During the final show, the jurors will also present excerpts from their current programs that will make the audience laugh.
The best performances will be rewarded with attractive prizes: The winner can look forward to the title “Bavarian Joke Master 2025” and a bonus of 1,000 euros. Second and third places don't go away empty-handed either: 500 euros and 250 euros await the next two best. Not only is fame at stake, but also a good sum of money!
