Bitter defeat for Tigers: 0:4 against Adler Mannheim!

The ice rink at the Pulverturm in Straubing became the scene of a disappointing defeat for the local Straubing Tigers on Friday evening. In the duel against Adler Mannheim, who are currently very popular, the Tigers suffered a clear 4-0 defeat. This period of weakness for the Tigers is becoming increasingly worrying as they have now reached matchday 25 of the PENNY DEL. With this defeat, the team remains in third place in the table and is forced to improve its performance in order to stay in the race for the playoff places. Straubing Tigers reports that Mannheim appeared confident with four wins from their last five games, and a promising first game of the season in which they beat Straubing 3-0.

In the first third, the Adler Mannheim made good use of their chances. Leon Gawanke gave the guests the lead in the 8th minute with a power play goal. Although the Tigers had the majority in the first third, they were denied goals. The second third saw more from the Eagles: Kristian Reichel increased the lead to 0-2 in the 25th minute and hardly gave the Tigers a chance to get back into the game. Despite some promising approaches, Straubing was unable to score the next goal.

Riots and punishments

The third third brought unpleasant scenes. The Tigers couldn't contain their frustration, which resulted in a multitude of penalties. Straubing received a total of 46 minutes of punishment, while Mannheim only spent 20 minutes in the penalty box. What was particularly noticeable was the 10-minute penalty against Zachary Solow shortly before the end, which did little to calm the game. In the end, Justin Schütz and Marc Michaelis scored the points for Mannheim, scoring in the majority in the 56th and 57th minutes. Varejcka had the chance to score a consolation goal with 19 seconds left, but was denied by Maximilian Franzreb, the Eagles' goalkeeper.

Outlook for the Tigers

With 5,510 spectators behind them, the Tigers don't need to give up. Their next game is next Sunday, December 7th, 2025, against the Iserlohn Roosters. Followed by a home game against Eisbären Berlin on December 12th and another against Löwen Frankfurt on December 14th, the Tigers are hoping for a turnaround. The games can be followed both on Magenta Sport and on the fan radio “Straubing Tigers on Air”.

The team will have to take the ice without some key players. Mike Connolly is still in rehab, while Adrian Klein is suspended and Zac Leslie, Elis Hede and Tobias Schwarz are also missing. Despite these challenges, the table shows that the Tigers remain in third place but are in dire need of stabilizing their form if they are to remain in contention for the top positions.

Especially with a view to the next games, the team could need a return to more self-confidence and team spirit in order to optimally master the upcoming challenges. Let's hope that the home advantage will help them get out of this difficult phase.
