Telekom brings 5G to the country – new mobile phone locations in Straubing-Bogen!

The mobile phone expansion in the Straubing-Bogen district is making progress and with a big plus for all users. How regio-aktuell24 reports, Deutsche Telekom has put two new mobile phone sites into operation in Aiterhofen and Paitzkofen. These locations not only ensure better network coverage, but also offer the modern 4G and 5G technologies. Currently, 91 percent of the area in the region is covered, and an impressive 97 percent of households have access to the fast mobile phone network.

But the need for bandwidth continues to grow. An increase of around 30 percent is expected every year, which is why ten new locations are planned in the next three years. In addition, 14 existing systems are to be upgraded in order to convert to 4G and 5G. Deutsche Telekom now operates a total of 56 mobile phone sites in the district. According to the current plans, the company needs the support of cooperations when renting space so that landlords can benefit from long-term local rents.

Future prospects and requirements

The new coverage not only provides faster internet connections, but also supports important emergency call technologies. Thanks to Advanced Mobile Location (AML), the location of emergency calls is automatically transmitted to the rescue control center. Additional security measures are provided by the Cell Broadcast warning system, which sends dangers to cell phones in affected radio cells.

A look beyond the region shows that the federal government has pushed forward the gigabit strategy, which aims to have modern mobile communications standards across the board in Germany by 2030. How Germany-speaks-about-5g notes, the last dead spots should be closed by 2026. This requires digital planning and approval procedures as well as the use of alternative laying techniques when expanding fiber optics.

Current figures and developments

The Federal Network Agency has published the latest data on mobile phone coverage in Germany. By October 2025, around 95 percent of the area will already be covered with 5G, with Deutsche Telekom having achieved area coverage of around 87 percent. As the Federal Network Agency reports, Vodafone and Telefónica have also made significant progress, with 75 and 76 percent nationwide 4G/LTE and 5G, respectively.

The mobile communications infrastructure company (MIG) also supports expansion in underserved areas, which is particularly important to ensure consistent coverage. These measures promise consumers improved network coverage and higher data rates. Every step towards a better digital infrastructure is also a step into the future.

Overall, these developments are making everyday life in Straubing-Bogen and beyond increasingly mobile and networked. Telekom and the network operators have a good hand in implementing the plans - stay curious to see how things develop further!
