Starnberg Cultural Summer: A festival for people and artists will be celebrated in 2026!

In Starnberg, the “Cultural Summer” is a real highlight of the event calendar. The city council unanimously praised Petra Brüderl, head of the city's cultural office, for her outstanding work in making the festival an integral part of cultural life. Loud South German newspaper The fifth edition of the festival is already planned for 2026 with a budget of 40,000 euros.

The cultural summer, which was launched in 2021 during the corona pandemic, has established itself beyond the city limits. Last summer, over 50 events took place, including 28 free concerts in the picturesque Bucentaur Park. Mayor Patrick Janik (CSU, UWG) described the series as a “good and well-rounded thing” – even if the weather didn’t always cooperate.

Cultural diversity and positive feedback

The positive response from the region speaks volumes about the success of the festival. Event formats such as concerts, exhibitions, theater performances and children's activities offer something for every age group. Petra Brüderl insists on planning now for 2026, with a total budget of an impressive 92,000 euros. The expected revenue is around 52,000 euros, which will be raised through ticket sales, sponsorship and grants.

The largest items on the expenditure side are the artists' fees, which cost 40,000 euros, followed by expenses for ticketing and technology, which will cost a further 30,000 euros. The budget has earmarked 12,000 euros for public relations work. However, the city administration expects a deficit of 40,000 euros, a situation that depends heavily on weather conditions and ticket sales.

Further highlights and fixed components

An integral part of the cultural summer is the “Ganz am Ufer” cultural café, which is located in Bucentaurpark and is billed via a separate budget office. There were no criticisms of the financial calculation - on the contrary, the city councilors praised both the concept and the external impact of the festival. Third Mayor Christiane Falk (SPD) describes the cultural summer as a “huge win for our city”.

One thing is certain: Starnberg can be proud of its cultural summer, which not only promotes cultural diversity, but also community and joy among its citizens. A lot will certainly be planned and celebrated until the next edition in 2026 so that the tradition can continue. Who knows, perhaps the cultural summer will soon captivate even more tourists and locals and keep Starnberg highly popular as a cultural location.
