New coach for the women of FC Schweinfurt: Swen Liebrecht introduced!

In the Soccer Dome of FC Schweinfurt 1905, June 13, 2025 was an exciting day for fans and players of the women's team. The new coach, Swen Liebrecht, was officially introduced here. In the midst of numerous spectators, including a large part of the current team squad, the 46-year-old Liebrecht took on the task of leading the team through the coming season. The previous coach, Jule Betz, left the team after accepting an offer from the Bavarian Football Association (BFV) for a junior team. She took this step together with captain Antonia Heider, who had taken on responsibility at the start of the season.

The search for a suitable successor for Betz was not an easy one. The sports management attached great importance to finding a coach who could identify with the club and who had experience in girls' and women's football. Numerous applicants showed interest, and some were even allowed to hold a trial training session at the Sachs Stadium. Decision-making was a collaborative process in which the women's team also had a say. They consciously wanted to distance themselves from internal solutions and ultimately found the ideal person in Swen Liebrecht.

The new man on the sidelines

Swen Liebrecht has an impressive career in football. Originally from near Berlin, he gained coaching experience at well-known clubs such as Turbine Potsdam, Tennis Borussia Berlin and FSV Gütersloh. His profile is complemented by two important licenses: the B license and the DFB Elite Youth License. What is particularly noteworthy, however, is that Liebrecht is also trained as a qualified sports psychologist - an expertise that could prove beneficial for the development of young players.

Christoph Wück, the new national coach of the German women's national soccer team, could be a certain role model for Liebrecht. Wück, who previously led the U17 national team to the world championship title, also emphasized the importance of the players' individual development. With this in mind, Liebrecht will certainly try to support his protégés in the best possible way and bring their talents to bear. FC Schweinfurt 1905 warmly welcomed Liebrecht to the women's department and wished him much success.

Looking into the future

The challenges for the FC Schweinfurt 1905 women's team are enormous, but with a committed coach like Swen Liebrecht at the helm, who can identify well with the tradition and philosophy of the club, the signs point to success. The coming weeks and months will show how the team will develop under new leadership. Liebrecht knows: “There’s something going on.” And that's not just a joy for the club representatives, but also for all the fans, who are looking forward to the next season with great anticipation.

Anyone interested in developments in women's football will be keen to see how the DFB women, under the leadership of Wück, approach qualifying for the 2025 European Championship and the Olympic Games, which are coming up soon. Germany will start qualifying against Austria on April 5, 2024 and is pursuing ambitious goals. Looking beyond your own team shows that changes in German women's football are more in focus than ever - an exciting time for everyone involved!
