Pfarrkirchen outdoor pool: damage repaired – water attractions reopened!
In parish churches, the situation in the local outdoor swimming pool has eased somewhat again. After a plumbing problem that was discovered on Monday morning, the adventure pool, children's pool and slides are now usable again despite the initial closure. The Pfarrkirchen public utilities announced on Tuesday afternoon that the crack in a connection piece of the water treatment plant had been repaired, so that the popular water attractions are now open to swimmers and bathers again. This was reported by the PNP.
However, the technical system, which is now 40 years old, has long been in need of renewal. This is planned for 2026/2027. The circulation of the water was no longer possible before the damage occurred, which led to the adventure, children's and slide pools being closed for a short time. The swimmers' pool, however, was not affected by the restrictions and could be used continuously.
Challenges for the outdoor pool season
However, the 2025 outdoor pool season will not only face challenges in parish churches. Loud PBR The structural and technical condition of many outdoor swimming pools in Germany is often dilapidated, which leads to overall limited opening times. The average age of the 2,416 outdoor swimming pools in Germany is around 52 years. One in three outdoor swimming pools will have to be extensively renovated in the next five years, while many operators are confronted with bureaucratic hurdles and an acute shortage of skilled workers.
The survey by the German Bathing Society (DGfdB) shows that 56% of operators experience obstacles to modernization measures. Innovative concepts for economic redevelopment, such as in Lübbecke, where a spray park and new attractions were introduced, could be the key to addressing new target groups and ensuring long-term operations.
The look forward
The problems are complex: A shortage of skilled workers means that up to 50% of vacancies remain unfilled and thus the opening times of outdoor pools are restricted. Digitalization is seen as a possible solution to reduce staffing needs, for example through AI-powered video surveillance and cashless payment systems.
The city of Pfarrkirchen still presents itself as resilient in this challenging season. Although their stay in the outdoor pool was initially restricted, bathers can now enjoy their fun in the water without any worries. However, the preparations for the coming season and the need for investments in the infrastructure show how important every initiative to modernize the pools is in order to continue to meet the needs of visitors in the future.
