First day of resuscitation at the Rottal-Inn: Everyone can save lives!
An important event is coming up in the Rottal-Inn district: On Saturday, July 5th, the first resuscitation day will take place under the motto “Anyone can save a life – including you?” across the stage. The aim of this day of action is to raise awareness among the population about life-saving emergency measures and to reduce the inhibitions that often exist when it comes to the topic of resuscitation and defibrillation. The initiators of this useful event are the resuscitation working group of the health region plus Rottal-Inn, consisting of the Bavarian Red Cross, the Rottal-Inn clinics, and the district office.
The campaign takes place in nine municipalities located throughout the district. Volunteers from the Bavarian Red Cross are available to offer free, short resuscitation training. The training courses are intended for anyone interested and can be attended without prior knowledge. This should give everyone the opportunity to learn or refresh themselves on the correct behavior in an emergency.
Locations and times of training
The trainings take place at various locations between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., with one exception in Gangkofen, where the activities run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Here is an overview of the locations:
- Arnstorf: Edeka Reichl, Mariakirchener Str. 37
- Bad Birnbach: Neuer Marktplatz (im Rahmen des Wochenmarkts)
- Eggenfelden: Schellenbruckplatz, beim Getränkemarkt Orterer
- Gangkofen: Volksfestplatz von 14 bis 17 Uhr
- Massing: Edeka Schmilinsky, Bahnhofstraße 2
- Pfarrkirchen: Kaufland, Franz-Stelzenberger-Straße 1
- Simbach am Inn: Rennbahncenter (vor der Blumen Apotheke)

District Administrator Michael Fahmüller is grateful for the commitment of the volunteers and the organizations involved. “We want everyone to lose their fear of the unknown and be able to react in an emergency,” says Fahmüller.
Revival Week
This event is part of a larger initiative that also includes “Revival Week,” which takes place September 22-28. The aim of this week is to actively familiarize people with the topic of resuscitation, because many people suffer sudden cardiac arrest every year. In such emergencies, every second counts and simple resuscitation measures can actually save lives.
The steps for resuscitation can be summarized simply: check that the person is responsive or breathing, then call for help, and finally begin chest compressions until professional help arrives. During the resuscitation week, various information opportunities will be offered to increase the public's awareness of these important measures.
For those interested, there is information on the citizen information portal www.rottal-inn.de/infoportal an overview map of publicly accessible defibrillators (AEDs) in the district. This allows everyone to update their knowledge and, in the best case scenario, save someone's life in an emergency situation.
Further information and training on resuscitation can also be found on the site einlebenretten.de, which deals comprehensively with the topic and offers additional resources.
