In 2026, the Ilmtaler Pfaffenhofen traditional costume association will celebrate a very special anniversary: its 100th anniversary! Founded in 1926, the association is dedicated to preserving and passing on Bavarian customs. CEO Anna Felbermeir looks forward to a year of celebration that honors the history, values and members of the association. The patron of the anniversary, Peter Heinzlmair, is expected to play a central role in the celebrations.
The official starting signal for the anniversary year will be on January 3, 2026, when a folk dance will take place at 8 p.m. with musical accompanimentHopfa moss musicand the anniversary beerHosa Brewis celebrated. Also that oneMarch 21, 2026will be a significant day if oneHoagartenwith performances by the club's music and singing groups. But the climax of the celebrations is yet to come.
State Youth Costume Festival in Pfaffenhofen
For many traditional costume lovers, this will be a very special highlight: VomMay 15-17, 2026The Bavaria-wide event takes place in Pfaffenhofen State Youth Costume Festival instead, on which around6,000 children and young peoplefrom all over Bavaria will take part. The motto “Living tradition – our youth, our future” reflects the spirit of the festival and is intended to encourage young people to actively engage with Bavarian culture and tradition.
Friday will be dedicated to the journey, while various performances on three public stages are planned on Saturday. Play and get-to-know-you areas ensure that even the youngest participants have fun. A celebratory service takes place on Sunday, followed by a festive parade through the city. The public is warmly invited to watch or take part – a great experience for young and old!
