Bavaria celebrates enjoyment at the Green Week: experience hops and tradition!

Today is January 17, 2026 and Bavaria is showing its best side at the Green Week in Berlin. The Bayernhalle becomes the main attraction, where over 80 exhibitors present the diversity of the Free State. The focus is on culinary delicacies, including Bavarian delicacies and fine Franconian wines. The special thing: Agriculture and Tourism Minister Michaela Kaniber herself was there and was enthusiastic about the offerings of the Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm district, especially the various uses of hops, the “green gold”.

A true feast for the senses! The first day of the trade fair in the Bayernhalle was already a complete success. Beer benches were well filled, while brass music played through the air and the first beers were served. Bavaria uses the trade fair not only to advertise its products, but also to attract tourists. It is remarkable that Bavaria has been represented at Green Week for 100 years now - a complex historical review that ranges from horse-drawn pairs with Bavarian specialties to modern presentations.

A look at the diversity

The Bayernhalle's motto is hospitality and culinary delights. Around 50 music and traditional costume groups with over 1,000 participants ensure a varied entertainment program in the Entenwirt's beer garden. Minister Kaniber expressed her appreciation for the uniqueness of Bavarian agriculture and tourism. She hopes for strong added value and good sales, which underlines the relevance of this event.

But Green Week is not just a showcase for Bavarian cuisine. It is also an important platform for political discussions in the agriculture and food sector. This year, the trade fair will be accompanied by the discussion about the controversial Mercosur trade agreement. President Günther Felßner of the Bavarian Farmers' Association expressed concern about the impact of cheap imports on domestic agriculture, particularly in relation to beef, sugar and poultry.

Polemic about Mercosur

Minister Kaniber, on the other hand, is optimistic and sees economic opportunities for Bavarian agriculture in the trade agreement. The German Raiffeisen Association supports this view and emphasizes that the agreement brings more opportunities than risks for the agricultural and food industry. Export opportunities for dairy products, meat and wine could lead to better prices for farmers, which offers overall positive prospects for Bavaria's agricultural economy.

Green Week runs until January 25th and promises to be a valuable experience for both visitors and exhibitors. Those interested can find further information on the website of the Bavarian Ministry of Agriculture. Let yourself be inspired by the Bavarian hospitality and culinary delicacies - it's worth it!
