City cycles 2025: Actions and profits for cyclists in the Oberallgäu!

Sonthofen, Deutschland - The annual city cycling in the district of Oberallgäu and the city of Kempten is just around the corner! From June 25th to July 15th, 2025, all citizens are invited to their kilometers, which they travel by bike, online on the City Cycling platform . The initiative has set itself the task of promoting cycling and climate protection. The organizers hope that even more people are enthusiastic about the wheel as a convenient means of transportation in everyday life.

What can the participants expect during the event? A colorful supporting program with great actions should ensure additional motivation. Guided bike tours, a photo competition and a tree planting campaign are planned. On June 29, the event "City Cyclists on the Land" will take place, which is organized by climate protection managers and the Oberallgäu-Kempten eco-model region. The guided bike tour starts and ends in Sonthofen and leads to the beautiful Ostrachtal in Hinterstein. There are exciting stations on this approximately 30 km long route that deals with climate protection and ecological food, including a stop at the biomass heating plant in Sonthofen.

New this year: The first photo competition with the motto "looked over the handlebar-the world from a bicycle perspective". Participation is possible from June 25th to July 15th. Images must be sent as a jpg file and with a declaration of consent to anita.bernschneider@kempten.de . It is important that the submissions take place during the participation period, otherwise they remain invalid. The best photographs have the chance to be awarded in Kempten at the city cycling ceremony in mid-September.

The prices are not a little thing: the main prize is a high-quality mountain bike of the Cube brand, and there is a Garmin bicycle navigation system, equipment packages and shopping vouchers for bicycle shops as well as day tickets for the OK mountain railways in Oberstdorf and the Kleinwalsertal. The sponsors of the competition, including Allgäuer Überlandwerk GmbH and Robert Bosch GmbH, contribute to the attractiveness of the price. Participants are also invited to share their works on Instagram and link the city of Kempten and the district of Oberallgäu.
