As the Allgäu newspaper reports, the candidates to succeed Indra Baier-Müller, whose term ends on April 30, 2026, are well prepared and ready to present their visions.
Among the applicants are:
- Thomas Eigstler (CSU, Wiggensbach)
- Michael Finger (ÖDP, Oberstdorf)
- Christina Mader (Grüne, Immenstadt)
- Wolfgang Plach (AfD, Altusried)
- Matthias Schemann (SPD, Betzigau)
- Christian Wilhelm (Freie Wähler, Sonthofen)
The event is free and accessible without registration, but those who come early will get the best seats. The panel discussion will also be broadcast as a live stream, which can be found at www.allgaeuer-zeitung.de/stream can track. Don't worry, if you miss it, you can watch the entire discussion as a video afterwards.
Detailed ideas from the candidates
As the District messengers reported that the candidates have prepared intensively for the election campaign. The CSU candidate Thomas Eigstler, who has been mayor of Wiggensbach for 15 years, has some powerful issues on his plate: housing provision, the expansion of local public transport and Oberstdorf's application for the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2031 are at the top of his list.
Christian Wilhelm from the Free Voters also has a lot of experience as mayor of Sonthofen and played an active role in campaigns for a lively district. A breath of fresh air is blowing from Matthias Schemann (SPD), the young construction engineer from Betzigau, who calls for solutions instead of excuses.
The Green candidate Christina Mader is specifically dedicated to the mental health of young people and brings with her her experience from the management of the Federation for Nature Conservation. Michael Finger from the ÖDP is committed to actively shaping the district and is already involved as a local councilor in Oberstdorf. Wolfgang Plach (AfD) is committed to social cohesion and combating youth unemployment.
A look at the candidates in the election
A small detail on the side: Even if the seriousness of the election campaign is the top priority, the candidates did not spend the holidays without enjoyment. Here are their Christmas treats:
- Thomas Eigstler: Spiegeleier mit Salzkartoffeln und Spinat
- Michael Finger: Rotkohl mit dunkler Soße
- Christian Wilhelm: Fondue
- Matthias Schemann: Kässpätzle
- Wolfgang Plach: Hähnchen mit Pommes
- Christina Mader: Rouladen mit Spätzle
The local elections are taking place on March 8, 2026, and not only the new district administrator will be elected, but also the Oberallgäu district council and the municipal and city councils. Citizens can look forward to further panel discussions that will take place in the coming weeks. If you have any questions, you can ask them in advance survey@allgaeuer-anzeigeblatt.net send.
Stay tuned and don't miss out on who brings the best arguments and suggestions! It is up to the voters to have a say in the future of Oberallgäu.
