Annual review 2025: Records, markets and social projects in the Nuremberg region

November and December 2025 provided some exciting and eventful moments in the Nuremberg region. As n-land.de reports, there were not only local festivals and markets, but also significant social initiatives. A highlight was the Day of the Regions in Kirchensittenbach, which attracted numerous visitors despite the moderate weather. Here, guests could, among other things, control a construction crane and watch how craftsmen skillfully handled wood turning. Of course, culinary offerings such as lángos and waffles could not be missed.

The autumn market took place in Schnaittach, which attracted people to the market square. Here you could stroll through a wide range of offerings and, in addition to coffee and magicians, also enjoy bread sommelier insights. Another highlight was the honoring of master hairdresser Marcel Schneider for his many years of social commitment. In 25 years he raised an impressive 650,000 euros for children with cancer, a positive message that touched the hearts of many.

Sustainability and commitment

Another important topic was the new shopping guide for second-hand offers, which the Nürnberger Land district office published. This step aims to avoid waste and conserve resources, as emphasized by bundesumweltministerium.de. The second-hand shopping guide presents ten local retailers and non-profit organizations that are intended to encourage citizens to recycle and reuse.

With regard to resource-saving initiatives, the development of a Bavarian circular economy strategy was decided on July 23, 2024. This strategy is intended to support companies in implementing environmental and resource protection measures and is coordinated by the Bavarian Resource Efficiency Center in order to promote sustainable business.

Special events and occasions

The world record attempt in the Steinlein dance studio in November, where 36 dancers came together, was also impressive. Their efforts helped confirm a great record, with a total of 12,812 dancers participating in 136 locations worldwide. An event that should show how collective actions can achieve great things, even if they are perhaps not as bizarre as the world records of brigitte.de, such as the largest goat yoga class in Florida.

Not to be forgotten is the issue of high-voltage lines, which concerns many citizens. The citizens' initiative Pro Ziegelwiesen was satisfied with the city council's decision to stop the planning of the north bypass. This proximity to citizens shows how important it is that the voice of the village community is heard.

Unfortunately, there was also some not entirely good news: Diepersdorf Plastic Manufacturing GmbH filed for bankruptcy, which caused uncertainty among employees. A meeting with the insolvency administrator and the works council should clarify what support options exist.

Overall, a look back at the last few months in the Nuremberg region shows that there is a lot of movement in social and economic life here. With a great mix of commitment to sustainability, community and creative solutions, the region is prepared for future challenges.
