Diehl Group boomt: sales blend records and creates thousands of jobs!

Nürnberg, Deutschland - What does the Diehl Group actually do in Nuremberg? The traditional family business, owned by the family since 1902, is currently causing a stir. In the past year, Diehl had an impressive turnover of over 4.7 billion euros, which corresponds to a whopping plus of almost 21 percent compared to the previous year. This shows that the company, which is also active in the armaments industry, is really good in business. Over the past few months, in particular in 2023, profit before interest and taxes (EBIT) rose from 260 million euros to over 460 million euros, which exceeded the optimistic forecasts, such as Br24 reported.

The armor division, specifically Diehl Defense, knew how to convince and was able to convince with growth of 60 percent. For comparison: Diehl Aviation and Diehl Metering also achieved positive results. However, Diehl metal faced a decline in sales due to challenges in metal processing and the crisis in the auto industry. Diehl Controls also did not grow because the sales of heat pumps decreased and fewer inverters were sold. In 2024, sales of over 4.5 billion euros are already predicted, which makes it clear: Diehl has a lot of plans.

investments and expansion

What is going on in terms of investments? Diehl is committed to taking a lot of money in hand. Over 330 million euros flowed into investments, an increase of 45 percent. Around 400 million euros were planned for research and development. In particular, the geopolitical situation ensures that Diehl plans to expand the capacities at all locations. In the long term, almost one billion euros flow into the expansion, including a new factory for thermal batteries in Röthenbach. The first test center will also be put into operation soon, such as merkur

The rush for new workers at Diehl is enormous. Over 1,000 new employees were hired last year alone, with the armor and aviation divisions being the main demand. Despite the general shortage of skilled workers, the company has no significant difficulty finding suitable employees. Many initiative applications come from the automotive industry, which is currently experiencing difficult times. For example, those responsible expect 500 to 600 other positions for 2024, which further underpinned the growth of the company.

The future of the armaments industry

A look at the general location of the armaments industry shows that all of Europe is currently investing record sums in this sector. Hundreds of billions of euros flow into defense, the highest sum since World War II. This also leads to the creation of hundreds of thousands of new jobs. Nevertheless, the lack of qualified specialists remains a major challenge, especially for the construction of armaments such as tanks and anti -aircraft systems, report experts. In the past, the industry was considered not very attractive, but the image has now turned. Engineers and managers are now increasingly looking towards the armaments industry, which is fueling the competition for the best heads, such as the Süddeutsche Zeitung emphasized.

So

Diehl has positioned itself well and seems to be on growth course for the next few years. The clear focus on the armaments industry and the view of increasing sales give reason to optimism.
