Missing Neumarker (69) found dead – police rule out foul play
A shocking case of missing people became known in Neumarkt. A 69-year-old man, who had been missing since Monday, July 7, 2025, was found lifeless on Friday, July 11. The police then revoked the public search warrant because the circumstances of the death appeared to be clear. Investigators from the Regensburg criminal police have so far found no evidence of foul play. However, extensive search measures, which also included the use of a helicopter over the Rittershof district, were unable to successfully complete the search for the man. The Neumarkt police station had previously asked for important information, but this did not bring the hoped-for success.
In the same breath, another tragic story from the region must be mentioned. A 46-year-old woman from Neumarkt, who had been missing since Sunday, April 3, 2025, also met a sad end. Her body was discovered in a forest near Engelthal. Her absence had already led to a search call from the police on Monday after she left the clinic in Engelthal on Sunday morning. Here too, after initial investigations, the police determined that there was no foul play, which only increased the relatives' sadness and lack of understanding. The deceased person was quickly identified as the missing woman.
Missing persons cases at a glance
Reports of missing persons are a serious issue that affects tens of thousands of people in Germany every year. According to current figures, around 80,000 to 100,000 people are reported missing every year. The reasons for the disappearance can be varied and range from family conflicts to health problems to possible crimes. While the majority of missing people reappear quickly, some cases remain unsolved for a long time. In Germany, around 3,000 to 4,000 cases are affected, with the majority of the missing people being minors.
The police respond to any missing person report without delay, and such a report can be made at any time. A clear process for investigations is regulated by law when dealing with missing people. Relatives are also given recommendations for action so that they can take the right steps in this difficult situation. In the case of the 69-year-old man and the 46-year-old woman, the criminal police have already become active as the responsible investigative authority.
In view of these tragic incidents, it is to be hoped that such fates will occur less frequently in the future and that those affected will be in good hands. The police should always be contacted in emergencies, and it is important to open your eyes and ears to missing people to potentially save lives or at least find answers.
