Neumarkt thrilled: WGG students win P-Seminar prize for robotics!

Neumarkt in Upper Palatinate made a name for itself in the world of education and technology on October 25, 2025. The P-Seminar “Mobile Robotics” at the Willibald-Gluck-Gymnasium was awarded the coveted P-Seminar Prize of the Upper Palatinate. At the award ceremony, the seminar leader, StR Tobias Wagner, and his talented students impressively demonstrated what modern technology can achieve.

The students not only presented a captivating lecture, but also performed an impressive demonstration on robotics. OStD Carsten Böckl gave the laudation and presented the certificate, while representatives of Nuremberg Technical University and the start-up company EduArt, including Prof. Dr. Stefan May and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Sander, were present. These business partners showed great interest in the developments at the WGG.

Innovative developments in focus

Particularly notable is the project group that developed competitive prototypes, including a robot dog. This was done using the latest technologies such as CAD software, 3D printing and electronics. Modern project management was also used: milestones, documentation, regular tests and iterations were part of the team's everyday life. Their own commitment during holidays and weekends shows the students' impressive commitment and passion for robotics.

Last year the team was already on the Consumenta trade fair in Nuremberg caused a stir. The next big step is to take part in the RoboCup World Championship in South Korea. The team is urgently looking for regional partners and sponsors to ensure financing for travel, transport and materials.

Robots and artificial intelligence in the focus of education

Artificial intelligence has become increasingly important in robotics in recent years. The developments are important not only for competitions, but also for training the next generation of specialists. Accordingly, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) promotes the use of AI in higher education. Education server reports on increasing projects that support the competent use of AI in training.

The impressive successes of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences at the RoboCup World Championship demonstrate the potential of AI in robotics. There, the team won the world championship title in the “@work” category, which shows that robots are able to recognize and transport objects independently thanks to AI - another step into the future of technology.

Neumarkt shows that not only innovative technologies are on the rise here, but also education that relies on future-oriented approaches. Hopefully the WGG team will find the support they need to take the next step in South Korea.
