The police therefore had a blood sample carried out and secured the driver's car keys. Another interesting aspect of the incident is that the driver has no permanent residence in Germany. For his detectable drug trips, he had to deposit a security deposit of around 600 euros to enable his onward journey, as the police had for the time being prohibited the trip. The events throw a shadow on road traffic safety and the dangers of drug use.

The legal consequences

As the police counseling reports, participation in road traffic under the influence of illegal drugs, such as cannabis or cocaine, is already an administrative offense without any noteworthy failure. The punishments can vary significantly - up to 1,500 euros fine and a driving ban of one to three months are possible. If we take a look at the limit values, it becomes clear that from August 22, 2024, 3.5 ng/ml THC in the blood serum is possible for adults, while an absolute ban on 1 ng/ml applies to beginners and people under the age of 21.
