When people celebrate in Memmingen, they do it right! The 50th anniversary of the Memmingen city festival is an occasion that will not soon be forgotten. From June 23rd to 25th, 2025, visitors can look forward to a colorful program that is all about the motto “We bring music to the city”.
The city festival has been taking place in Memmingen's city center since 1972 and has developed into a popular event over the years. Stadtmarketing Memmingen e.V. invites you to the celebrations. V., the city of Memmingen, the municipal utilities and the Memmingen trade. The three days of the festival not only provide a chic atmosphere, but also numerous offers and promotions from retailers.
A look back
The first Memmingen city festival took place on June 5, 1972 and attracted several thousand visitors. An article in the Memminger Zeitung reported on a festival at which 13 hundredweight of ox on a spit and 55 hectoliters of beer were consumed. The anniversary celebration is not just a retrospective, but also an opportunity to celebrate the beauty and diversity of the city.
Although the celebrations had to be canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, the city is looking forward to its 50th edition. Christian Hörcher, board member of the Memmingen city marketing association, emphasized that, according to Adam Riese, the 52nd city festival should actually have been celebrated. But the wait is finally over!
The program
The kick-off will take place on Friday evening with a techno party called “Park & Rave”, which will create a great atmosphere in the Krautstrasse parking deck from 5 p.m. There is music until midnight, with DJ acts like “Kollektiv Scheinwelt” and “Twin Bomb”. On Saturday, the market square becomes a stage for various musical performances - and the palate is not neglected either: culinary delicacies and refreshing drinks are available until midnight.
A special highlight is the traditional beer tapping on Saturday at 11 a.m., which will put the guests in a festive mood. Sunday then starts with an ecumenical devotion “Park & Pray”, followed by a hearty white sausage breakfast accompanied by the “Hot Jazz Revival” band.
