Art summer in Wertheim: Mysterious exhibitions in the New Archives!
Things are happening again this summer in the picturesque setting of Wertheim Castle: The art summer has been firmly established here since 2018 and delights art lovers with varied exhibitions. The initiator Axel Schöber invites you to discover the unique rooms of the New Archives, which were commissioned by Prince Carl Thomas zu Löwenstein in 1742. This building, a beautiful belvedere, usually only opens its doors for special occasions and is converted into a gallery with the support of the city of Wertheim.
In keeping with tradition, there is a lot to see this year too. The exhibition “Between Noise and Relief” will open on Sunday, July 13th, at which the artist will be present in person. In addition to this opening, there will be a second exhibition featuring the well-known painter Conrad Schierenberg, who died in 2022. This will be on view from mid-August to September 21st. Throughout the art summer, visitors can admire works by well-known gallery artists, making for a real highlight.
Program highlights and opening times
However, the art summer at Burg Wertheim has more to offer than just exhibitions. A group exhibition entitled “DOGS – between instinct and affection” will take place from July 7th to August 18th, 2024. This opening will begin on July 7th at 11:30 a.m. and will be welcomed by Ina Nolte, the city of Wertheim. Guests can expect a jury-controlled selection of works by established artists, including names such as Ottmar Hörl and Irina Bartels. Admission is free and the gallery is open from Thursday to Sunday - a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the creative worlds of these artists.
