December 22, 2025 brings exciting news for cinephiles and families in Bavaria. Mainpost reports that the sequel to the popular historical drama “The Medicus” is in the starting blocks. After twelve years since the release of the first part, “Medicus II” by director Philipp Stölzl is being released in cinemas. But this film will not be based on the literary original by Noah Gordon, which further fuels interest and increases audience expectations.
At the same time, another familiar face returns to the screen. The popular animated film “Spongebob Squarepants – Pirates Ahoy” is coming back to the cinema after ten years of absence. Fans can look forward to seeing the friendly sponge and his famous friends Patrick and Mr. Krabbs again.
Medieval flair in the cinemas

To open the entrance, the castle bridge falls after an announcement and a fish guides the guests with the words “This way!” to a grandstand that extends around a circular square. To cheer up the audience, King Maurice announces the tournament from his box and encourages everyone to take part. SpongeBob and Patrick identify themselves as brave fighters and register for the tournament. Sitting on seahorses and equipped with lances, nothing stands in the way of an amusing duel!
