Sachsenberg Whitsun Market: Enthusiasm for the parade and happy egg festival!

Whitsun Sunday was a complete success in Sachsenberg. The day traditionally started early, with four drummers gathering right at the beginning Fraternity to put the guests in a festive mood with their rhythm. Early risers were able to fortify themselves with a small breakfast schnapps - a welcome tradition that reflects the spirit of togetherness. Captain Ronny Valentin praised the local connection and hospitality of the Sachsenbergers, which further underlined the warm atmosphere of the market.

In the afternoon, a well-attended service took place in the local church, celebrated by Pastor Reinald Richber. The festively decorated streets, which were decorated with birch branches, invited people to the subsequent parade organized by the fraternity. Not only the local population took part, but also friends from other cities, which illustrated the solidarity within the community. Chairman Sven Althaus proudly reported that there were around 70 members in the fraternity, and many new faces were welcomed this year.

Tradition and entertainment program

The ankle hall was transformed into a place of entertainment, where various groups, such as the mini bees, the marching band, the Mündener Funken and the Mühlhausen organ pipes, created a great atmosphere. In the evening, DJ Bigfoot ended the day with a disco evening - a highlight for all dance fans and party lovers.

But the Whitsun market has a long history that goes back to the 1950s. Its origins are unclear, but they apply Reports about the founding of the Sachsenberg fraternity in 1894 as an important part of it. Many traditions that are practiced here today have their origins in the past of the fraternity, which also had a well-established fraternity book at the end of the 19th century. The significance of the Whitsun market is not only to be seen in the celebration itself, but also in the connection to a living past.

Egg market as a tradition

Another integral part of the Whitsun festival is the egg market on Whit Monday. This year an incredible 1100 eggs were collected, of which 700 eggshells were used to create a unique egg flag. The eggs were carefully raised on a string in a specific order, while the Sachsenbergers all came together to enjoy the collected eggs in Sven Althaus's garden. This social gathering created a sense of community and sharing that is of great importance to the people of Sachsenberg.

Lisa Backhaus, the mayor, praised the support of the population at the events. This solidarity and cohesion in the community is what makes the Whitsun market such a special event in Sachsenberg.
