Big fire in the Life City Center: Pharmacy badly damaged!

in the Lichtenfelser Lif.e City Center, the fire brigade was dramatic in the morning of June 25, 2025. At 11:10 a.m., alerted under the operational keyword "B3P - fire in the building - smoke development - human life in danger". On site, the first group of emergency services found a slight smoke development inside and noticed a critical increase in the carbon monoxide concentration, which was a significant danger for everyone present. Carbon monoxide (CO) is a odorless, tasteless gas, which can have fatal consequences in closed rooms, since it displaces the oxygen in the blood and causes serious health damage, explains fire brigade magazine.

The operations management had district fire chief Alexander Klose, while train leader Holger Reinlein took over the coordination. Initial explorations quickly showed that there was a technical problem in ventilation or air conditioning technology. A respiratory protection team was immediately sent into the building and to the roof because the situation was increasingly critical. Some employees of the complex already complained of symptoms of flue gasinhalation, which made a quick reaction all the more urgent.

determination and measures

The measures of the emergency services were quickly expanded. In addition to the fire brigade, energy suppliers and electricians were also requested. In the adjacent pharmacy, a fire was finally discovered and deleted in a rear room. But the re -extinguishing work went into length due to the large amount of branded goods. The pharmacy had to be classified as badly damaged.

As it turned out, the smoke load was also measurable in a neighboring flower shop and other shops, which required additional test work. Critically high CO values were registered in the adjacent shops, which underlined the need for comprehensive ventilation measures. Fortunately, a greater misfortune could be prevented because the emergency services acted in good time and brought the situation under control.

injured and deployment resources

The balance of the extensive commitment, in which around 65 emergency services were involved and which took about seven hours, shows the seriousness of the situation. There were a total of three injured people due to flue gasinhalation and an injured fireman. The property damage is currently not exactly quantified, but can be classified as considerably, since the fire also affected other business in the building.

For the logistical support during the mission, a great thanks go to the BRK and Edeka Werner for the catering of the firefighters. The cooperation with the police, the district fire inspection of Lichtenfels and neighboring fire brigades such as the weirs from Kösten, Reundorf, Wallenstadt, Altenkunstadt and Schönsreuth was also exemplary.

In summary, it can be said that the quick and targeted reaction of the fire brigade Lichtenfels and the other organizations involved prevented worse. However, the incident also shows how dangerous carbon monoxide is, which arises when the combustion of carbon materials containing carbon. More information about the dangers of Co can be found in the fire brigade magazine.
