The latest figures show that Europe is not spared the devastating consequences of traffic accidents. In a period of ten years, the number of traffic fatalities in the EU was reduced by 36 percent. Nevertheless, 22,800 people still lost their lives on the streets in 2019. In 2020, this number fell by 4,000, which is partly due to the pandeme -related declines in traffic. The EU average is 42 traffic fatalities per 1 million inhabitants, while over 180 people are losing their lives on the streets worldwide.
The ADAC database shows that country roads in particular are considered dangerous. 57% of the traffic fatalities and 39% of the seriously injured occur here. The accidents when turning or turning are particularly common, so that it is necessary to implement additional measures to increase traffic safety.
The current accident situation illustrates that a lot of work in the field of traffic safety must still be done. Today's incident in the Landshut district is a sobering reminder for all road users to remain vigilant and concentrated.
reports on accidents such as this, which fortunately did not have fatal consequences for everyone involved, have to stimulate us to reflect and further discussion about security measures and our own driving behavior.
