But VSV was not discouraged. Shortly before the end of regular time, around 76 seconds before the final siren, Nikita Scherbak equalized to make it 3-3 after a precise assist from John Hughes. Nevertheless, Villach's outnumbered formation showed a disciplined performance and left the hosts no significant opportunity. After the penalty expired, Oliver Stümpel was able to score the decisive goal for Landshut to make it 4-3.
