Two serious accidents on the B472: total loss and injuries cause chaos
A serious traffic accident rocked the B472 near Ingenried on Friday evening. A 64-year-old man from the Landsberg am Lech district drove his Porsche into an intersection at around 5:30 p.m. without braking and collided with the car of a 33-year-old from the Altlandkreis. Both vehicles skidded and finally stopped just a few meters from the scene of the accident. Fortunately, the drivers only sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital. The damage amounts to around 200,000 euros, which means that both vehicles are a total loss, as [Merkur](https://www.merkur.de/lokales/schongau/kreisbote/hoher-sach Schaden-bei-unfall-nahe-ingenried-93787571.html) reports.
Following the accident, around 45 emergency services from the volunteer fire departments of Schwabbruck, Ingenried and Huttenried were on site to close the road and secure the accident site. The B472 was closed on both sides for a short time, which led to significant traffic disruptions. But that wasn't the last incident at this point: just two days later, on Sunday at 1:45 p.m., there was another accident. An 87-year-old driver from Steingaden overlooked a car with the right of way that was driven by a 59-year-old woman from Rhineland-Palatinate. In this collision, the 87-year-old, his passenger and the driver also suffered minor injuries and had to be taken to hospitals. The material damage in this case amounted to around 21,000 euros.
Statistics and causes of accidents
The accumulation of such accidents represents a serious problem not only for those affected, but also for traffic safety. According to Destatis, traffic safety statistics serve to obtain differentiated data that is essential for legislation and traffic education. The results of these statistics help significantly in analyzing the causes of accidents and in planning necessary measures to improve road infrastructure and traffic safety.
Another notable incident occurred on March 6, 2025 on the B472 near Schweinthal in the Miesbach district. A 26-year-old BMW driver overtook several vehicles and collided head-on with a VW and a Polish minibus. This multiple collision caused the BMW to roll over several times and land on the shoulder a good 100 meters away. Three people were injured in this incident, including an 18-year-old from Traunstein. The total damage was estimated at over 35,000 euros, and the B472 was closed for around three hours, as Rosenheim24 reported.
The repeated accidents on the B472 call for a thorough review of the traffic situation and possibly increased traffic enforcement at dangerous junctions to prevent further tragic incidents.
