Volunteer fair in Landsberg: A big step for inclusion!

On June 1, 2025, the second volunteer fair on the topic of volunteering and inclusion took place in Landsberg am Lech. This event, which once again took place in the Veitsmarkt, aimed to build bridges throughout the district and present a variety of engagement opportunities. In an environment filled with popcorn, cake and numerous giveaways, you could feel the positive response from visitors and the various organizations. The participants were enthusiastic about the numerous offers that the social facilities, institutions and clubs made to them. This showed that interest in volunteering is very popular. The city of Landsberg am Lech and everyone involved were also recognized for their efforts, and the organizers announced that the trade fair would take place again next year. Further information about the trade fair can be found on the KEB Landkreis Landsberg website - it's worth a visit!

The importance of volunteering

Volunteering is not just a nice hobby, but also makes a significant contribution to inclusion and a functioning social structure. According to Aktion Mensch, volunteers enable a wide range of leisure, cultural and support offers. They are actively involved in projects that promote coexistence in society. Individual engagement can bring about real change by supporting the equal participation of all people. Especially in a topic as complex as inclusion, volunteers are indispensable - they contribute time, knowledge and contacts to bring about lasting change in their community.

In Germany there are almost 86,000 sports clubs and over a million volunteer firefighters who form the backbone of volunteer work. Data from Statista shows that the most popular forms of engagement are getting involved in sports clubs or church activities. In addition, more and more people are willing to become active in social initiatives or charities. The food banks, which need more and more help, as well as organizations such as the German Red Cross are happy about every helping hand.

Sustainability in volunteer work

An interesting facet of volunteer work is the opportunity to continue projects independently beyond the initial financial support. This gives volunteers the opportunity not only to be active in the short term, but also to create positive impulses in their community in the long term. As Aktion Mensch emphasizes, the commitment of volunteers is essential in order to convey the ideas and goals of inclusion projects to the population.

Not only is it gratifying to see how much interest there is in volunteer work, but it is also important to encourage and support this enthusiasm. Because strong volunteer work is the foundation for an inclusive and lived community that takes care of every single citizen. The volunteer fair in Landsberg am Lech once again proved that volunteer work not only brings joy, but also plays an important role in coexistence in our society.
