The gastronomy in Bavaria has reason to celebrate again! The new Michelin stars were awarded in Frankfurt am Main on Tuesday evening, and the results show that the Bavarian restaurant landscape is alive and buzzing. Augsburger Allgemeine reports that a total of 81 restaurants in Bavaria were awarded Michelin stars this year—five more than last year. This speaks for the excellent quality of Bavarian gastronomy.
Among the highlights of this award, the Munich restaurant “Tohru in der Schreiberei”, run by the talented chef Tohru Nakamura, stands out. He combines Japanese and European cuisine in his dishes and has learned his craft from renowned chefs. But Jan Hartwig and his restaurant “Jan” are not left without a star, as is Edip Sigl, who continues to defend three stars with “Essenz” in Chiemgau.

Not to be forgotten are the 65 one-star restaurants, including the newly awarded “Nose & Belly” in Augsburg and the “Stephans Stuben” in Neu-Ulm, which is also celebrating its first star award.
New trends and awards

The Sommelier Award went to Marie-Helen Krebs from “Ikigai” at Schloss Elmau. It shows how diverse Bavarian gastronomy is and how great the commitment to excellent quality and sustainability is. In addition, 80 Green Stars were awarded for sustainable gastronomy, which underlines the growing focus on environmentally conscious culinary concepts.
