Schoolgirls in Kulmbach are setting an example for respect in public transport with a sticker campaign!
Something is happening in Kulmbach! Students from the Caspar-Vischer-Gymnasium have launched an exciting sticker campaign to draw attention to respectful behavior in local public transport. The initiative, which was presented on August 17, 2025, is intended to be an important step towards civil courage and democracy building. Art teacher Andreas Schobert encouraged the students to choose a socio-political theme, and the result is impressive.
But why the topic of respect in public transport? Unfortunately, many girls and women report unpleasant experiences such as being observed and harassed on buses and trains. Isabelle (16) describes how she often feels uncomfortable at the central bus station in Bamberg. Their classmates Amy (16) and Clara (16) also had similar experiences, which underlines the immediate relevance of the project. Hella (16) and Elisa (16) also emphasize that these insecurities mainly come from men, but are not limited to a specific origin, religion or age group. The students have decided to send a clear signal with their action.
Together for positive change
The campaign is supported by Stephanie Schütz, managing director of Schütz-Reisen. She has already pledged to put the stickers on her buses so the message will spread widely. DB Regio Bayern has also recognized the problem and is actively addressing it on social media. The goal is clear: to raise public awareness and promote respectful behavior in public transport.
The students and their teacher Andreas Schobert see this initiative as an important sign of civil courage. “If we all stand together and promote respectful behavior, we can make a change,” says Schobert. Stephanie Schütz also encourages people to intervene in critical situations and not to look away.
Stickers and support from Terre des femmes
The first stickers have already been placed on a bus and the campaign will continue. The project also receives support from the organization “Terre des femmes”, which announced that it would print stickers and offer them in the online shop. This not only raises awareness of the problem, but also promotes democracy education and encourages young women to become active.
The Greek word “RESPECT” not only stands for respect, but is also a call to all of us: it is about respecting the value, dignity and rights of every individual. Respect is the key to healthy relationships, be it in everyday life or at work. Respect is shown in concrete actions such as attentive listening, empathy and politeness.
With their sticker campaign, the students have taken a great step in the right direction to strengthen the sense of community and promote more respect in everyday life. “Speak less, act more” could be the motto of the moving initiative that encourages us all to take action and set an example.
