Successful ceiling renovation of the KU 3 between Höfstätten and Niederndobrach!

Höfstätten, Deutschland - The recently completed ceiling renovation of the KU 3 between the court and Niederndobrach stands for an important chapter in the infrastructure of the Kulmbach district. After an intensive construction phase that began on June 16, 2025 under full closure, the road was released for traffic on June 26, 2025. This renovation measure, which should ensure safe and sustainable use in the long term, includes both the district and the city area and is a gratifying message for all road users.

The last comprehensive ceiling renovation took place in 1980, so that the current renewal was high time. The construction work was awarded to the Rädlinger company from Selbitz and comprised a total length of 1.51 km and a width of 5.5 m. A total of around 8,300 m² of road were renewed, in addition to 65 m in the town passage, which an area of 360 m² revenues.

A look at the costs

The total cost of the renovation amounts to around 240,000 euros for the district and around 5,000 euros for the city of Kulmbach. These investments not only enable a significant improvement in road quality, but also underline the district's commitment, which is around 1 million euros annually in the preservation of the district road network. While residents are partly responsible for renovation costs in other federal states, Bavaria is fortunately spared from this practice, as costcheck.de reported.

In many federal states, owners must bear part of the costs; However, this is no longer the case in Bavaria. Residents only have to cover 25% of the costs for main traffic, while the municipality bears 75%. On residential streets it is often 75% of 25%. This shows that the entire distribution of costs depends on various factors such as the type of road and the type of use.

reactions and outlook

District Administrator Klaus Peter Söllner and Mayor Ingo Lehmann was visibly pleased with the successful cooperation and the timely completion of the renovation. The lane marking, which extends over a length of 3.0 km, was also extensively renewed and awarded to Hima GmbH from Nuremberg. The banquets along the entire route (approx. 3 km) were also repaired, which further increases general traffic safety.

With the renovation work carried out, the KU 3 is not only more qualitative, but also safer for all road users. These measures will offer the population and travelers a comfortable and sustainable use of this important street in the Kulmbach district.
