Kaufbeuren shines: Animal Christmas from November 28th!

The pre-Christmas season in Kaufbeuren is fast approaching, because... Kaufbeuren Christmas Trail 2025 is at the door. From November 28th to January 6th, 2026, visitors can go on a discovery tour in the festively decorated old town. Under the motto “Animal Christmas”, city guests can look forward to a circular route that impresses with 21 lovingly designed stations set up by schools, kindergartens and other institutions.

The stations aren't just a feast for the eyes; they also address important aspects of the animal world. These include the well-known donkeys in the nativity scene, winter residents of the forest and various depictions of the animal world. All stations are numbered and marked with the “Kaufbeuren Christmas Trail” notice, which makes orientation easier during the tour.

Participate and win

A special highlight of the Christmas trail is a competition in which participants not only have to strain their eyes but also their minds. A quiz question is hidden in each shop window, and the first letters of the answer words form a 21-letter sentence in the correct order. Anyone who submits the correct solution to the Tourist Information (Kaiser-Max-Straße 3a) by January 6, 2026 can look forward to a small Christmas present.

From November 29th, an additional 19 shop windows decorated by retailers will be presented. These windows provide information about the respective schools or kindergartens and are also provided with notices. The city of Kaufbeuren would like to thank the retailers who made their windows available for this creative campaign.

A tour of the city

To make the tour easier, flyers with a list of participating shops, schools and kindergartens are available at the tourist information office. The flyers can also be downloaded online and via QR code.
