Huskies turn game around and secure home win against Kaufbeuren!

A thrilling afternoon for the Kassel Huskies culminated on December 7th, 2025, when they triumphed in the home game against the Kaufbeuren Buron Joker. On this 22nd matchday of the DEL2 2025/2026 season, the Huskies and the second-placed team from Kaufbeuren dueled in an exciting encounter.

At the start of the game, Kassel clearly had the upper hand. But the first goal of the game came in the 12th minute by Henri Kanninen, who sank the puck into the net after a solo from McLellan and gave Kaufbeuren a 1-0 lead. A change of momentum

The Huskies finally found their rhythm in the second third. Maciej Rutkowski tried to revive the game, but was denied by goalkeeper Rihards Babulis. But from the middle of the third things became more difficult for Kaufbeuren. The Husky fans had their first reason to celebrate in the 34th minute when Darren Mieszkowski equalized the score at 1-1 after Benson lobbed the puck to him. Just three minutes later, Dominic Turgeon gave the Huskies a 2-1 lead, supported by Daugaviņš and Benson.

In the final period, the Huskies initially concentrated on their defensive work and largely stopped the guests' chances. Tysons McLellan still had a promising opportunity, but it was defused by the brilliant goalkeeper Philipp Maurer. Kaufbeuren, already decimated by injuries and illnesses - including Daniel Fießinger, John Rogl and Joe Cassetti - was able to get a power play in the 54th minute after a foul against them, but even this was unsuccessful. With a sixth field player, the Kaufbeuren team tried everything again shortly before the end, but ultimately had to admit defeat 2-1.
