Building material recycling in Ingolstadt: Together for a green future!
Things will get exciting in the Bavarian city of Ingolstadt on July 9th and 10th, 2025: The building materials recycling and minerals industry will meet under the motto “Mia ghean zamm” (We belong together). This event celebrates the tenth anniversary of the partnership between the bvse - Federal Association of Secondary Raw Materials and Disposal e.V. and the Baustoff Recycling Bayern e.V. As Recyclingportal reports, the event not only offers a platform for the exchange of experts, but also a festive supporting program.
The first day will open with a festive evening reception, at which Bavaria's Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber will also give his welcoming address. The 11th bvse Minerals Day takes place on the second day, offering an extensive specialist program on current topics in the industry.
Technical focuses
The sessions will discuss burning topics such as the Replacement Building Materials Ordinance (EBV), which has been in force since August 1, 2023. This regulation sustainably promotes the use of products with a previous life in construction projects, which is particularly important for climate-friendly construction. According to Handwerk Magazin, experts like Stefan Schindele from Baufritz see the challenges associated with recycling construction site materials, especially when it comes to separating the different materials.
The specialist program will include, among other things, the results of a simulation game to evaluate the EBV and practical reports from companies in Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia. Quality assurance and certification of secondary and replacement building materials as well as the landfill situation in Germany are also on the agenda.
A particularly exciting topic will be the integration of the circular economy into tendering and awarding processes in the construction industry. The legal framework for dealing with asbestos is also examined. A lawyer will present the current developments and basic guidelines. There are also reports on the safe disposal of asbestos-containing materials, which are crucial for construction companies.
Use of recycled materials
Recycled building materials are currently very popular. Around 220 million tons of construction waste are generated in Germany every year, mainly soil and construction rubble. The EBV, which regulates exactly how construction companies must deal with mineral substitute building materials, sets clear limits for pollutants and defines installation methods for recycled products. This is also described by the Circular Economy Construction.
In particular, the “Design for Recycling” project, which is being promoted by Baufritz, emphasizes the need to think about later recycling during construction. For example, the company has reused materials from 1983 and shows how innovative approaches are possible in construction.
An accompanying specialist exhibition during the event will present products, services and technical solutions. This represents an excellent opportunity for exchange with manufacturers, service providers and consultants. Anyone who is interested can find out more and register at www.mineraliktag-bvse.de.
