The Haßberge district is offering free training for volunteers on July 24, 2025 to address the growing need for support among older people.

Free training for volunteers: How to support those in need of care!
In the Haßberge district, the signs point to support for people in need of care. In view of an aging society, the need for assistance is increasing. Over 80 percent of those in need of care in Bavaria are cared for in their own homes, often by relatives, neighbors or friends. These helping hands provide valuable services, be it when visiting the doctor, shopping or doing household chores. But this support often goes beyond personal commitment.
An important instrument for financial relief is the monthly relief amount of 131 euros, which those in need of care from care level 1 can take advantage of. This amount can be paid out to helpers who are not related to the person in need of care and live in the same household. The helpers must either provide evidence of training in a social, nursing or domestic profession or complete training for volunteers.
Training offer in the district office
In order to promote the necessary training, the Haßberge district care network is offering free training for volunteers on July 24, 2025. This event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Haßberge district office in Haßfurt. Important knowledge and skills are imparted here that are essential for supporting those in need of care. Interested parties should register by July 20, 2025 at the latest so that places can be secured. Registrations can be made by contacting Vera Ksinski at psp@hassberge.de or by calling 09521/27 396.
But what happens if the existing care assistance is not enough? In such cases, the health system offers additional support. Those in need of care with care level 4, for example, receive monthly benefits in kind amounting to 929.50 euros, as well as a pro-rata care allowance of 400.00 euros. From February 2025 it is planned to receive individual care at home. In order to finance this, some people in need of care would like to use part of their benefits in kind, which further increases the complexity of the financial arrangements.
Financial regulations and entitlements
A look at the details shows that many people in need of care can receive up to 2,230.80 euros per month for support services with clever planning of their claims. It is important to know that excess amounts paid to the nursing care fund do not have to be reclaimed, but will be offset against future reimbursements. However, these regulations can be confusing for many and require a certain level of awareness and information.
Finally, it is clear that, given the demographic developments in Bavaria, both personal and financial support are essential for those in need of care. Campaigns such as free training in the district office offer a valuable opportunity to meet the growing challenges in geriatric care. The Haßberge district care network therefore plays an important role in improving the quality of life of those in need of care and their relatives.
