After four years of existence, operator Maximilian Leichnitz was forced to give up. The bar, which opened in autumn 2021, was intended to act as a “new living room for the people of Günzburg” and offered an appealing selection of unusual cocktails, club nights and live bands. But despite the creative offer, the hoped-for success did not materialize Augsburger Allgemeine reported.
Social media portrayed the closure as a painful loss for the city's nightlife options. Users clearly express that the selection of leisure activities in Günzburg is becoming smaller and smaller. Critical voices blame high rental prices, which make it difficult for restaurateurs to gain a foothold in the city. “The rental prices on the market square are completely excessive,” says Corinna Nußbaumer, the managing director of the Trachtenstube.

The closure of the Flaneur not only comes as a surprise to the operators, the population is also disappointed. The bar was considered a “gastronomic highlight” in the region, and many readers complain about the decline in nightlife options in Günzburg. The enjoyment and variety that was once offered by the Flaneur is now missing. After all, gastronomy is an important economic factor in Germany, the importance of which has continued to grow in recent years - and a lot depends on good offers, especially in smaller cities like Günzburg.

Run by Maximilian Leichnitz, it was a place where people could meet up with friends and enjoy the nightlife. Despite its opening hours from Tuesday to Saturday and a delivery service, the stroller was unable to record sufficient numbers of guests.

The city and its residents now have to think about how they can enrich the leisure and nightlife options again.
