A new wind is blowing over Oberau because the Langmatz company is planning an enormous construction project that is of great importance for the region. With an investment of a whopping 45 million euros, the company's headquarters will be relocated from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Oberau. Construction on the new production and warehouse, including three office floors and a canteen, is scheduled to begin in spring 2026. Construction work will last until 2028 until the new buildings can officially open.
Mayor Peter Fink is enthusiastic about this prestigious project, which he describes as a real benefit for the community. The application was unanimously approved by the local council. The aim of this new facility is to combine production, warehouse logistics and administration at one location, which should significantly improve operational processes. With over 440 employees at the Werdenfels plants, Langmatz is well positioned, and the workforce will also be integrated into the new building.
The big plan for the future
Langmatz processes plastics and metals, especially for the areas of telecommunications and energy technology. Managing director Dieter Mitterer emphasizes that the new building will use state-of-the-art production facilities that will ensure the company's long-term competitiveness. The six-story building will be 59 meters wide, 56 meters long and 27 meters high. The high-bay warehouse, which is 137 meters long, will certainly make a striking statement.
