50 years of Hörbacher Monday Brettl: Bavaria's cultural treasure celebrates anniversary!
Hörbach, Deutschland - Jubilee mood in Bavaria! The Hörbacher Monday Brettl, the oldest still existing cabaret of the Free State, proudly celebrates its 50th birthday. Founded in the Gasthof Sandmeier, the Monday board has presented countless artists over the decades and is still supported today by the standards set by the founding father Toni Drexler. The stage rarely fell without him, and one of the few exceptions was the birth of his son Simon when he stayed in the hospital in 1986 to celebrate this special moment.
The first event was launched on October 20, 1975 and since then more than 300 appearances and seven Brettl festivals have been held. The highlight is only imminent, the eighth Brettl festival will take place from September 12th to 21st, 2025. The line-up promises great evenings with artists such as Christian Springer, Gankino Circus and Martina Schwarzmann, whose appearance is already sold out. If you want to treat yourself to a day ticket, you have to invest 37 euros.
artistic development without public funding
What makes the Hörbacher Monday board so special? One aspect is the independence of public subsidies - the stage has been back on private means since the beginning. In the early years, it was primarily the commitment of Toni Drexler and his brother to make this creative oasis possible. In 1993 a support association was launched to create a solid basis and to support cultural work. According to the information from Brettl Festival , the program of the events not only includes humorous stories of creation, but also political issues, musical performances and linguistic arguments.
The Monday board is still open to new artistic forms of expression and thus offers a room for emerging talents. At this point I would also like to mention the Haspelmoor Podcast, which discusses the Brettl Festival in two episodes and thus emphasizes its meaning.
cultural promotion in Bavaria
In the context of this anniversary celebration, you can also take a look at the cultural promotion in Bavaria. Every year the Free State awards up to 17 art promotion prices, each endowed with 7,000 euros. These prices are aimed at artists who are at the beginning of their work. The categories range from visual art to music to performing art, with a special price for dance being awarded. It should be noted that an in -house application is not possible - suggestions must come from academies, professional associations or similar institutions. If you want to know more about the funding, you will find interesting information on the website of the State Ministry for Science and Art .
The Hörbacher Monday Brettl remains a testimony to the vitality and creativity of the local cultural scene and is ready for the next 50 years. Regardless of whether as an artist or spectator - this place is a real jewel for everyone who loves cabaret!
