Spectacular fire brigade exercise after an accident with illegal car racing!
Freyung, Deutschland - On July 8, 2025, an impressive community exercise in the field of technical assistance (THL) took place in Freyung. In a realistic scenario, the emergency services simulated an illegal car racing in the Bundeswehr's former “Munich camp”, in which two vehicles collided. The practice scenario addressed all the senses and presented the specialists with great challenges.
In the exercise, one of the incredible vehicles was on the side, while the other lay on the roof. Thanks to a well -organized provision, the Freyung train drivers had set up a specific space outside the warehouse in order to optimally coordinate the emergency services. The first rescue units from Freyung and Philippsreut quickly moved in with hydraulic rescue equipment. Among the emergency services were also detected dogs that were used to search for people.
efficient coordination and application technology
In order to optimize the rescue and supply operations, a one-way regulation was implemented. A section manager coordinated the patient rescue, closely coordinated with the emergency services and the district fire brigade doctor Peter Gahbauer. Another exciting moment was when the head of operations found an abandoned vehicle in the ditch and suspected three injured people.
The Kreuzberg fire brigade quickly came to help and took over the securing of the vehicle. The Bavarian forest rescue dog squadron was alerted to support the evacuation work. Finally, their seven surface dogs were able to localize a person in a bunker at risk of collapse. The Technical Relief Agency (THW) Passau helped by removing a large stone block that blocked the outcome and secured the bunker.
successful conclusion and important findings
After intensive and committed use, the exercise was successfully completed. In a total of 105 emergency services, the fire brigade, BRK, the Stadler emergency services, the THW Passau and the rescue dog squadron of Bavarian Forest were represented. A total of 22 vehicles and area detection dogs were deployed, with seven “injured”, represented by the youth fire brigade and dolls.
The event impressively illustrated the need for common exercises in order to be well prepared in an emergency. Such exercises are not only important for cooperation, but also for the further development of the operational techniques and strategies -a cornerstone for a complete defense against danger.
We thank everyone involved for their tireless efforts and look forward to the next exercise, which will certainly bring many valuable knowledge again! Further information on the organization of the fire brigades can also be found at the Berlin fire brigade.
