Africa Festival in Freising: Celebrating 15 years of cultural diversity and integration!
The 15th Africa Festival in Freising, which took place on June 20, 2025 in the Luitpoldanlage, thrilled visitors with a colorful program focused on cultural exchange and integration. The organizers, Deo Amados and Ali Djobo Agoro from the Togolese Association in Freising, offered a festival that not only brought together delicious African specialties, but also a variety of musical performances and intercultural activities. Despite the summer heat, the festival site was already well attended on Thursday and guests stood patiently in long queues at the drinks stands.
A particular highlight was the appearance of King Togbui K.A. Toulassi II, the king of the Ewe. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of peaceful cultural exchange and the role of such events in harmonious coexistence in society. The city was proud of the event, which was awarded the Upper Bavarian Integration Prize in autumn 2023 samerbergernachrichten.de reported.

The program for Saturday was varied: it started at 11 a.m. with the market opening and the “Afrolink Cup”, followed by performances by the drum group Otumfuo from Ghana and the Brazilian samba group Todentro. At 9 p.m., the Tanzanian band “Abeneko” brought a grand conclusion to the first day of the festival. This was based, among other things, on the experiences at the “Jahu Cup”, a pub football tournament that has laid the basis for exchange between different cultures for many years, explains merkur.de.
In his greetings, cultural representative Nico Heitz emphasized the role of music, fashion and culinary diversity, which not only contribute to entertainment but also to understanding between cultures. With these elements, the Africa Festival remains an important part of Freising's cultural scene and a sign of respectful coexistence in the city sueddeutsche.de reported.
