Cinema in numbers and developments

The cinema industry in Germany has recovered somewhat after the difficult times of the corona pandemic, but the figures for 2024 show a slight setback. According to the latest reports, there were around 90.1 million visitors, which means a decrease of over five million compared to the previous year. The average number of visits per person is now 1.08. This development is reflected in the number of cinemas, most of which are located in federal states such as Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg. There are over 1,720 cinemas across the country, which together offer around 738,200 seats.

The average ticket prices at the Kino-Center Forchheim are between 7.00 and 8.50 euros, depending on the film. A surcharge applies for 3D films and extra lengths. Snacks are also available in the cinema: popcorn and cola are available for 2.50 euros each, and a pilsner costs 3.00 euros.
