Boy Scouts celebrate 60 years: Anniversary in Erlangen with big festivities!

From September 19th to 21st, 2025, the Asgard tribe of scouts in Erlangen will celebrate its 60th anniversary. This weekend not only looks back on the past years, but also a variety of activities for the whole family. This makes the tribe, which has its headquarters at Kurt-Schumacher-Straße 13b, one of the largest and most active of its kind in Bavaria. It currently has almost 130 members and is part of the Association of Girl Scouts ( bdp-asgard.de ).

The official start of the anniversary celebrations will be on Friday, September 19th at 5 p.m., with guests able to arrive from 4 p.m. Among the guests of honor will be the mayor of Erlangen, Dr. Janik and the Bavarian Interior Minister Herrmann. In addition, many former scouts have signed up, so that a real exchange can take place across generations. In addition to the cozy get-together, there will also be a welcome evening and a singing evening, which will create a festive atmosphere.

A highlight: the renaming of the Asgardweg

To mark the anniversary, the footpath and bike path that runs north of the tribal property will be renamed. The new name, “Asgardweg”, was determined in a resolution by the environment, traffic and planning committee of the city of Erlangen after the Scout-Fördererkreis Nordbayern e.V. had suggested it. Not only is the history of the tribe honored, but the connection to the Nordic world of gods, from which the name “Asgard” comes, is also brought into greater focus.

On Saturday, September 20th, Family Day will be the focus. Numerous attractions are planned here that will delight not only children but also adults. A barbecue stand as well as coffee and cake will ensure your physical well-being. At the end of the day, there will also be a festive, open-ended celebration that will allow participants to reminisce and make new acquaintances.

Community and tradition

The Asgard tribe is committed to the holistic character development of children and young people. The development of young scouts is promoted through fun and games, volunteer leaders and the motto “Youth leads youth”. The tribe organizes 3 to 4 camps and trips during school holidays annually, as well as weekly group lessons. For many years, the tribe has been able to offer open holiday care for 80 children and young people, which has been established since 2004.

Sunday, September 21st, will end with a morning drink and clean-up work. Here, space is once again created for looking back at the past six decades of the Boy Scout family. It is a weekend not only for celebration, but also for strengthening community and cultivating long-lasting friendships. It will be a special experience for everyone who wants to see old companions again and enjoy the atmosphere.
