New craftsman parking permit+ makes parking easier in four cities!
The introduction of the new craftsman parking permit+ represents a welcome step for craft businesses in the region. This innovative project officially starts on January 1, 2026 and improves parking conditions for craftsmen in the cities of Nuremberg, Fürth, Erlangen and Schwabach. This makes a significant contribution to relieving the everyday burden on craftsmen in the region.
Florian Janik, the mayor of Erlangen, emphasizes inter-municipal cooperation as the key to the success of this project. With just one application, craft businesses will be able to benefit from the same parking concessions in the four cities in the future, which will significantly reduce administrative costs. Instead of obtaining separate permits for each city, a single application at the respective company headquarters is sufficient. This new regulation is based on an exemption from road traffic law that is recognized in all participating municipalities, which further relieves the burden on craft businesses.
The craftsman parking permit+ enables free parking at parking ticket booths and in pedestrian zones during delivery times. Parking in restricted parking areas and in areas with resident parking regulations is also permitted. A particularly useful innovation is parking in traffic-calmed areas - this is also possible outside designated areas as long as the flowing traffic is not obstructed. These regulations mean a noticeable relief for many tradesmen, especially when tools and materials have to be transported.
Introduction and application options
The joint introduction of the craftsman parking permit was publicly presented by the mayors of the four participating cities on October 9, 2025. On October 22, 2025, the Nuremberg city council gave the green light to the project, which created a joint working group consisting of representatives from the road traffic authorities and the chambers of crafts. This group is now preparing the introduction of the new ID card, which can not only be applied for on site, but also enables online application.
The fees for the craftsman parking permit+ are flexible: the fee for one year is 250 euros, while a three-year membership costs 700 euros. The previous craftsman parking permit remains valid, but is only applicable in the city of Erlangen.
An important step for Schwabach
For Schwabach, the craftsman parking permit represents a completely new regulation. Similar regulations already existed in the cities of Nuremberg, Fürth and Erlangen, which are now being simplified and made uniform through the introduction of the common permit. With these innovations, the cities not only want to reduce bureaucracy, but also help to ensure that craft businesses in the region have a good handle on their daily challenges.

The craftsman parking permit+ is therefore another example of the positive development of cooperation between cities and craft businesses. This will strengthen the local economy and make an important contribution to improving the range of services on offer.
