Eichstätters show enormous willingness to donate for peace!

November is not only known for the first frosty days, but also as a time to remember the dead, especially the victims of war and tyranny. An impressive fundraising event recently took place in Eichstätt, which so beautifully embodied the spirit of remembrance. The German War Graves Commission has called for support for its important work under the motto “Together for Peace”. Loud Reservist Association This association maintains over 830 war cemeteries in 46 countries, identifies war dead and looks after their relatives.

The Eichstätt Reservists' Association has been very involved again this year. They organized a collection at the Eichstätter Ostenfriedhof, which was coordinated by Peter Maier. Maier, who is both a reservist and a member of the Volksbund, would like to thank the population for their generosity. In just about three and a half hours, around EUR 1,326.70 was raised. A real sign of solidarity in our community!

Commemoration with meaning

The Volksbund's commitment goes beyond the care of grave sites; it also includes peace education and educational projects for young people. This is particularly important to keep the memory of the victims alive and promote peace for future generations. Peter Maier emphasizes how crucial it is to give these memorials the attention they deserve. “The preservation of war graves is not only a sign of honor, but also a reminder for peace,” said Maier.

The next public memorial event will take place on Remembrance Day, November 16th, at 12 p.m. at the war memorial on Eichstätter Domplatz. It will be a moving moment to remember the victims and strengthen the community in its support for peace.

Such a commitment is not only an expression of compassion, but also shows how important it is to stick together and work for a peaceful world. In these turbulent times, it is encouraging to see the Eichstätt community coming together and standing up for higher values.
