Eichstätt shows hidden art treasures at the spiritual lunch table!

Eichstätt, Deutschland - in Eichstätt it is hot in June! On Wednesday, June 18, a very special event will take place in the Domschatz- and Diözesanmuseum . The "spiritual lunch table" invites visitors to a short leadership of about 20 minutes, which focuses on previously unknown views of the city. Under the shady roof of the museum, the participants can expect particularly revealing insights into the art and architecture of Eichstätt, where the cathedral and Willibaldsburg are presented as central symbols.

dr. Claudia Grund, the museum director, will start the lead at 12.15 p.m. at the museum treasury. The participation fee is a fair 4 euros and at the same time includes entry to the museum. This is a great way to get to know the collection that extends over 4,000 pieces that extends from high art to curious and kitschy objects. The special exhibition with the title "From art to curious" offers the perfect stage.

art treasures from 1200 years

The cathedral treasure and diocesan museum is much more than just a place of art. It tells the 1200-year history of the diocese of Eichstätt and presents an impressive collection, painting and sculpture by the late Middle Ages, textiles and paramets of the Middle Ages and Baroque as well as goldsmith and religious folk art. Archaeological finds also find their place here. Particularly noteworthy are the “Willibalds robes” from the 12th century and the magnificent “Walburga carpets”, which were created around 1465 and around 1520. These works of art are not only nice to look at, they also have a strong symbolic meaning for the region.

The museum, which was opened in the historical rooms above the cathedral cross in 1982, is characterized by its thematically arranged exhibits. Boredom does not arise here: No matter whether you are interested in the building history of the cathedral or want to illuminate the veneration of saints, there is something for every taste.
