Action day Addiction Mile” in Neumarkt: Together against addiction!

This Saturday, November 15, 2025, the upper passage in the Neuer Markt in Neumarkt will be the setting for an important day of action under the motto “Look instead of looking away – addiction concerns us all”. The event, organized by the Psychosocial Working Group (PSAG) Addiction Working Group Neumarkt, runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is aimed at young people, parents, those affected as well as professionals and clubs. This is an opportunity to deal intensively with the topic of addiction.

A special highlight of the program is the intoxication course, where participants can experience for themselves the effects of alcohol and drug consumption on their perception and ability to react. A “level up” quiz is also offered, which informs participants about risk perception, legal aspects and various substances. Through creative work, those affected show how they found their way to addiction and back again. If you like something more interactive, you can take part in an art project that asks the question “What is addiction for me?” treated.

Conversations in a relaxed atmosphere

To promote exchange, there will be cake and non-alcoholic cocktails in a relaxed atmosphere. Specialists from local advice centers are available to hold personal discussions and answer questions. This is a great way to broaden your perspective and seek support.

A central concern of the event is the increasing problem of mixed consumption, in which young people increasingly combine alcohol, cannabis and other drugs. The early intervention program for drug users who are first noticed (FreD) is also presented at this point. FreD is aimed specifically at young people aged 14 to 21 who have become suspicious for the first time. The aim is to reflect consumer behavior and promote a healthy lifestyle. In Neumarkt, FreD is implemented by the Caritas psychological counseling center.

Further information and support

For all those who cannot or do not want to just take part in the day of action, the Federal Institute for Public Health (BIÖG) offers numerous resources for addiction prevention. Various social media and websites provide comprehensive information about risky consumption, support for parents and professionals, and help for quitting smokers and drug users. Reaching out to professionals via social media channels can be incredibly helpful to get more information about addiction prevention. The aim is to motivate young people to use substances more consciously and to strengthen their media skills.
