Ebersberg loses Grundermarkt: Crashed from top 20 to 42nd place!

A bitter pill for the Ebersberg district: In the current NUI regional ranking, the region is no longer among the top 20 business start-ups in Germany. Instead, Ebersberg fell to 42nd place and thus lost a lot of its position. This news comes at an inopportune time, because more new entrepreneurial initiatives were registered nationwide in 2024 than before the Corona pandemic, as merkur.de reports.

The NUI indicator, which measures the number of newly registered businesses per 10,000 working-age residents, averages 136.0 in 2024. For comparison: in 2019 this value was 124.7. Ebersberg was able to achieve an indicator value of 164.7 in 2024, but that is a far cry from the 176.7 achieved in 2019. A clear decline that also illustrates how painful the descent from the upper ranks is.

Fluctuations in the ranking

According to ifm-bonn.org, improvements or deteriorations in the ranking were often influenced by changes in the framework conditions for entrepreneurial initiatives. But don't worry, the Ebersberg area has not completely lost touch - regions such as Rosenheim, Starnberg and Dachau are still ahead of Ebersberg.

The reasons for the decline can be complex. On the one hand, there have been many challenges for start-ups in recent years, some of which are difficult to estimate. On the other hand, other regions, such as Koblenz and Cologne, have been able to significantly improve their position, which makes it clear that there is movement in the start-up landscape.

A look into the future

The fact that Ebersberg is no longer among the top tier could be a wake-up call that local decision-makers should take seriously. In order to increase the attractiveness for founders, special incentives and support would be urgently needed. The political and economic landscape must continue to develop in order to secure Ebersberg a place in the upper echelons again.

The regional differences are large: While Leverkusen leads the ranking with an NUI value of 254.5, many neighboring districts are on the rise. It becomes clear that Ebersberg cannot stand still, but is required to set the right course for future business start-ups.

In summary, Ebersberg actually has a lot of potential that may not yet be fully exploited. It remains to be hoped that the region draws the right conclusions from the decline and will soon establish itself again in the top ranks of the start-up landscape. A look at the numbers shows that it is time to show a good hand in the next entrepreneurial initiatives.
